I have not eaten any flesh for more than 2 years now. I have had conversations more than once with people who ask about being vegetarian for weight loss. The first year, I continued to eat junk foods, and would laughingly tell inquirers that " Potato chips are vegetarian- don't become vegetarian to loose weight. " This last year I have realized that being vegetarian is not denying your self meat. It is pro-actively eating vegetables. All vegetables- preferably in their raw or lightly cooked form. This change of heart and mentality has helped me to loose 70 pounds in the last year. Choose fruits and vegetables by color. Each color offers a variety of nutrients and often anti-oxidant properties. Limit the starchy whites (including bread). Use seasoning packets- (most or meat free) as a marinade for egg plant, squash, etc. Read labels for ingredients and get creative, most meat sauces or flavorings are meatless. Eat all the fresh, raw or barley cooked (limit oil) brightly colored veggies that you want, get plenty of exercise. Exercise every time you think about it, even if you are trapped in an office environment all day. Remember to tighten up your stomach muscles and glutenous maximus, frequently throughout the day. Walk when you get the chance. Everytime you exercise enough to make your self warmer- you are raising your motabolism. I'm no one special. I don't have a PHD. And I certainly do not want to sound pompous. I am just trying to clearly share with you what worked for me. I was about to pop out of my skin at a size 24, now I am a size 10-12, and very comfortable in my skin. This has been achieved with out drugs, but simply by changing my lifestyle. Thank you for allowing me to share this one little bit of success in my life. Sherrie Win a $20,000 Career Makeover at HotJobs
