Hey PT,

I work for a small, local independent bookstore chain here in the

Vancouver area. Our " goliath " of bookstores in Canada is the

Chapters/Indigo/Coles nightmare conglomerate. The company I work for

has absolutely no affiliation with any of the big chains, despite

what some our customers would insist. ( " What do you mean, I can't use

my Chapters discount card here? Aren't you owned by them??) ;)

Regardless, we still have, and sell lots of, most of the popular

titles. But since we're a small business, we have a lot of loyal

regulars and have the freedom to have good conversations about the

good/bad points of various books. I can give my opinion about Atkins,

South Beach, Dr. Phil, etc with no fear of reprisals from my employer

for NOT selling more of these diet books. *lol*

And to stick to the vegetarian discussion, we also sell a lot of

remainder, discount titles including new cookbooks. I snagged a

hardcover copy of Crescent Dragonwagon's " Passionate Vegetarian " a

couple of weeks ago, for the low, low price of 18 bucks Canadian (60

bucks regularly). Minus my 30% discount on that price, I got an

excellent new cookbook for a fab price! :)

Cheers,

Kathy

Wow, that would be a dream job, working in a

bookstore. Good deal you got on the Crescent

Dragonwagon cookbook. That is such a good one.
