Guest guest
Wow! I never knew all this about Aspartame. My wife uses it all the time because she's diabetic but I never touch the stuff. I use regular sugar. I'm frightened for her now though because she has experienced some of the symptoms listed on the websites you suggested I look at. We still have some of the sweetener left but now she's reluctant to use it. I suggested she give it up for a week or so and see what happens. If the symptoms disapper then of course we know for sure what caused them in the first place with her. Thank you for this helpful information:) By the way, does Splenda fall in the same catagory as Aspartame also? Someone else here stated that she and her family have used Splenda for years and had no bad effects so now I'm considering leaning more towards that sweetener just until I can get some better stuff. What are your thoughts on this? Please reply back when you get the chance. Thanks:) Noel Message: 2 Tue, 20 Apr 2004 17:38:37 -0000 " Virgil " <cybergypsy1964 Aspartame IS harmful! I have been following this discussion, but haven't had the time to weigh in and comment yet. But, I wanted to call attention to this harmful substance. There was a long discussion about this in another group I am a member of recently. I suggest that you do a quick search on aspartame to see how much is written about the harmful effects of it. Guest guest
Aspartame may only have negative effects for people with PKU. read thisF: webmd.com/content/Article/54/65230.htm?pagenumber=2 Certainly, if you're experiencing the symptoms lay off on the aspartame to see if there's improvement. I normally use florida crystals sugar, but I recommend splenda, IMHO it tastes better and is vegan for those of you who care. , " Virgil " <cybergypsy1964> wrote: > I have been following this discussion, but haven't had the time to > weigh in and comment yet. Guest guest
Splenda / sucralose is completely different from aspartame. Sucralose is made by chlorinating sugar. The chemical structure of sugar is altered by substituting three chlorine atoms for three hydroxyl groups. There is a lot of propaganda on the web about how splenda must be deadly because it contains chlorine, a poisonous gas. They are apparantly not aware that the same is true of table salt (Sodium Chloride). When in a compound, an element doesn't have the same chemical properties. Otherwise we could breathe water and light it on fire. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> By the way, does Splenda fall in the same catagory as Aspartame also? Guest guest
Thanks for the info Dave:) It gets so confusing knowing what to believe you know. I hear that the sweeteners are bad from 1 source and then I hear something completely different from another source. It's mind boggling. I guess the best thing I can do is start using Stevia because I know that's 100% safe. I spoke with a man on the phone about it and he says it's the safest sweetener out there for diabetics especially and even for people without health problems. It's costly but well worth the price in my opinion. Noel Message: 3 Fri, 23 Apr 2004 17:08:23 -0000 " dave " <dave4sale Re: Aspartame IS harmful!
