I don't have a whole lot of faith in ANYTHING on Dr. Mercola's

website, even since I found out that he's hooked up with Gary Young

and Young Living (a scam MLM organization). It was interesting

reading, and thank you for sharing it, but I'll take it with a grain

of salt, considering the source.

I admire that guy putting his reputation on the line for what he

believes in. one thing that I will mention is it is not entirely

accurate mainly because the information on his site is dated (all

written in 2000). If you want the scoop on all artificial sugar

substitutes here is a long but informative article. Personally I am

not a fan of westonprice but here you go:

I know I'm older than alot of you so I can remember what diet drinks

with cyclamate tasted like and they were a hell of alot better than

anything with saccarine or nutrasweet. I really wish they would bring

it back. as far as splenda goes there are always gonna be people who

are gonna have an alergic reaction to something. its also obvious

that its not gonna be as good for controlling blood sugar cause it

comes from sugar in the first place. I can also understand being wary

of something that has pool chemicals(chlorine) added to it lol.

stay cool, Dave

You are right. People have different allergic

reactions to different food items but that

does not mean they are dangerous for everyone.

OMG! My mother uses that stuff! Well, I hope she listens to me when I tell her

she needs to use something else so she can stay in good health. Is there

anything bad about Aspartame? That's another sugar alternative that my wife uses

but I checked on the label and it does not contain Sucralose so I assume it's

safe. If anyone can tell me different, please let me know. Thanks:)

Noel,

I wouldn't panic your mother. Splenda has been used in Canada for years

and years, with no problems that I'm aware of. My family has been using

it since it came on the market in our area, and no one has had any

problems. Of course, different people react to things differently, so

I'm sure there *are* some people who have problems with Splenda. But if

your mother has been using it will no ill effects, I doubt it's going to

harm her to continue.

Frankly, I think those warnings are more of Mercola's bunk to get people

to buy his supplements, books, etc. My bet is that it's yet another

marketing gimic.
