Guest guest
Well James and I are back and it's good to see the mountain (Mt. Hood), drink good beer and to see our kitties and dog. Iowa was a whirlwind of activity with looking at properties, visiting with family, driving around and exploring the area. Our offer on a house/acreage was accepted with the contingency of us selling our land by June 1 (we currently live in Sandy, OR). Everyone thinks we're crazy for moving to Iowa, until they learn that we're doing it to be closer to my family and especially my mom who has been battling cancer for 12 years now. It will be a challenge being vegetarian there as the closest natural foods store is in Ames (an hour away); the local grocer has a few items, but lacks in the organic bread and good cheese section. I think we'll be sending money to our friends for some care packages. James' big fear is lack of good beer; but I'm sure he'll find a way to get it. If we get this piece of property (in Audubon, IA) we'll have 5 acres to grow whatever pleases us. I'm definitely interested in getting my hands closer to the earth. I haven't had a chance to catch up on reading the list, yet; perhaps by the end of the week. cheers! Denise PS, cooking for the family was a hit! They loved our enchiladas! Guest guest
Welcome back, Denise. That sounds like an exciting trip and a lot to take in. I just put my house on the market, too. Found another house in a neighborhood we want to move in so we are sort of in the same boat as you now, except we are only moving across town and not out of state. Good luck on getting all your ducks in a row! I feel your pain! *lol* busy, busy, busy... Bravo on the veggie cooking for the kinfolk! ~ pt ~ There is nothing so strong or safe, in any emergency of life, as simple truth. ~ Charles Dickens ~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~~> , " Denise " <pamperedveggie> wrote: > Well James and I are back and it's good to see the mountain (Mt. > Hood), drink good beer and to see our kitties and dog. > Iowa was a whirlwind of activity with looking at properties, visiting > with family, driving around and exploring the area. > I haven't had a chance to catch up on reading the list, yet; perhaps > by the end of the week. > > cheers! > Denise > > PS, cooking for the family was a hit!
