in response to some of the arguments going on around this list, here are some

facts (not arguments-- just facts) regarding the supposition that milk and

milk products are required for a healthy diet:

-human beings are the ONLY creatures who habitually drink the milk of another

animal.

-human beings are the ONLY creatures who drink milk into adulthood.

-cows' milk's purpose is to help a baby cow grow several hundred pounds

heavier, into an adult cow.

-most adults (more than 75%) are lactose intolerant, as the body no longer

expects nor needs milk for nutrition.

see also the following very informative article from the physicians'

committee for responsible medicine:

i hope this helps to answer some questions so that you can then make informed

decisions regarding the inclusion of dairy in your diet.

Other animals will drink milk into adulthood if they are allowed. Many mothers

of wild animals have to kick or even chase the babes away to wean them.

Also, lactose intolerance is caused by pasteurization- raw milk has enzymes

which break down the lactose.

Otherwise, your assertions are correct.
