so did I but I added lanolin and found this article:

in which they indicated they contacted 8th

continent/General Mills (see below) and they

did say it had vit D from wool fat added to it.

Now does that mean fat just from the wool or

from the, um, sheep's body. Admittedly

I guess you could count the wool as part of

its body. Also I've heard/read horror

stories about the means of shearing wool from

sheep.

" When we called General Mills Consumer Information to

inquire if this soymilk were vegetarian, we were

informed that the product was not vegan. The representative

first stated that it contained lanolin. When we asked what

the lanolin was for, he responded that it was in Vitamin D

used to fortify the milk. " The lanolin is from wool fat, "

he said "

Also saw 8th taken off vegan list here:

Thanks. Guess I won't drink any more 8th Continent

Soy milk. I'm only ova-lacto vegetarian but I try to

only eat eggs from cage-free/drug-free chickens (and

yes, I know that's still not perfect but . . .) Same

for any milk I use. Nevertheless I have no info on

the shearing process and care of the sheep and I also

try to avoid any GMO products if I'm aware of them.

<http://www.veggieboards.com/boards/showthread.php?t=5284>

adds more to the GMO info.

Also was in the Las Vegas area over the weekend and

enjoyed eating at " Go Raw Cafe " in Las Vegas. A non-

vegetarian friend and I both thought the food was

interesting and good. Also ate at the Komol restaurant

which is Thai and has an extensive amount of vegetarian

dishes. Another point is that many Thai restaurants

don't seem to count fish paste which is frequently in

their curry sauce as making the dish non-vegetarian.

I didn't ask what their's contained. I should have.

Nevertheless, the food was good.
