Guest guest
Yep, yep..celebrating today to the fullest extent..wore my fav green shirt, thrown back a few apple-flavored (green) jolly ranchers and am about to make some boiled cabbage to go along with dinner so we'll be fully prepared for a night of drinking out on the town. The following recipe is really more the way boiled cabbage is cooked down here, but I think it can count! Boiled Cabbage 1 Green Head of Cabbage cut into 6 pieces 1/2 cup water s & p to taste 2 T margarine or butter (optional) Pour enough water in a pan so that there is about 1/2 inch level of water. Salt the water and bring to boil. Place cabbage in pan and cover with a lid. Cook for 10 minutes, then turn the pieces of cabbage over, re-cover with lid and cook 10 more minutes. Uncover and remove any excess water. You don't want there to be any water left in the pan, just soft cabbage. Separate the pieces of cabbage and cut into smaller chunks if you want. S & P to taste and mix in margarine or butter if desired. *I think fresh cabbage prepared this way doesn't require the addition of the margarine, but some people do. I love boiled cabbage..it's just so easy to prepare and tastes wonderful. karen
