Guest guest
Nope. Here's why. You think you're buying a hamburger and fries. What you're getting is adulterated, drug-filled, antibiotic-laden, probably GMO-fed, BGH-grown pseudo-beef processed god knows how, preserved with all sorts of interesting salts that harm the body, and then prepared in far less than sanitary conditions. The buns are so far from being actual bread as to qualify as some form of styrofoam. The fries are barely potato, soaked in salt, hyrdorgenated oils, and sugar, and deep-fried in hydrogenated oils including sometimes beef lard and dozens of impurities. It's served with more salt sprinkled on them, and hydrogenated oils oozing from it so much it soaks through waxed cardboard containers. Now read the condiments. Or find out whether the lettuce and so on is kept " krispy looking " with sulfites or other potentially toxic things. You ordered a burger and fries. What you got is anything but. This is bait-and-switch. This is why you get fat even if you watch the calories and fat they list on their ingredients. Even more insidious, many of the things they sneak into either the food or how it's processed are designed to addict one's palate. By this, I mean the kick our sweet-and-salt responses, but also grease our texture centers. Much of what they do directly affects endophin release in the brain, etc. Even the fake scent they spray into the air to attract passers-by is a type of chemical warfare. Now, consider the fact that it's up to the courts to judge whether a given lawsuit has merit or is frivolous. Why should Congress EVER make any law categorically to protect this or that industry? Ludicrous, and malfeasance to boot. They do it to protect their cash cows. There are many books to read, such as Fast Food Nation, that will show you why it's not ever as simple as your choice as an adult when it comes to the deceptive crap you're buying at fast food restaurants and, increasingly, at the grocery stores. When the Chairman of Archer Daniels Midland decided to start pumping food with corn syrup, we bloated up nicely, just the way cattle do when force-fed corn at the end of their lives to fatten them for slaughter. You can look this stuff up. If you do it will curdle your McDonald's " shake " which, by the way, used to be made with tiny plastic beads. No kidding. They may still be, I don' t know, I boycott those dudes. Why are we so literal and stupid? I rather blame a systematic stripping away of education, most especially in things allegorical and abstract, symbolic and metaphysical. We no longer look for encodings or meanings and have been taught to mistake the map for the terrain. --W B Kek, poet
