Sorry, but this is blaming the victim, and it's patently obvious we can't be aware and do something about it when the entire society is geared toward forcing you into consumerism and NOT being aware. It wasn't hard at all. I did it cold turkey, as New Year's resolution. However, I am aware that I have rather more strength of character, as well as more individuality, than do most people.
