Guest guest Posted February 28, 2004 Report Share Posted February 28, 2004 Apple Cake with Caramel Sauce Yield: 9 Servings 1/2 c Butter; softened 3/4 c Sugar 1 Egg 1 c Flour 1/2 tsp Baking soda 1/2 tsp Ground nutmeg 1/2 tsp Cinnamon 2 c Peeled chopped apples 1/2 c Chopped walnuts CARAMEL SAUCE 1/2 c Packed brown sugar 2 tb Cornstarch 1/2 c Light corn syrup 1/4 c Cream or canned milk 1/4 c Butter 1 Egg; beaten Preheat oven to 350°. Grease an 8 " square baking pan. Cake: Cream butter and sugar; beat in egg. Blend flour, baking soda, nutmeg and cinnamon; combine with butter. Stir in apples and walnuts; transfer to pan and bake 30 to 35 minutes or until cake tests done. Caramel Sauce: Stir brown sugar and cornstarch together in a pan.
