Hello.......and goodbye - My experience on this list

I've been a member of this list for a little while now, I guess right

around Oct/Nov 2003. I have really enjoyed the myriad recipes that

are presented and have tried a few of them. I'm lacto-ovo and I've

never felt berated by anyone on this list. I'm sorry that others

don't have that same experience. I know that some posts may come

across as being harsh, but there are some people who always post in a

sarcastic fashion and I guess you just have to know that.

> so I was unaware of the anti-religious campaign here. Shame shame.

Off topic too, unless I miss my bet.

> Another way we are like you is in our religious beliefs. I won't

go into it as I don't think such things BELONG on a list about

vegetarianism. Vegetarianism is NOT a religion.

Yes, vegetarianism is NOT a religion and I, personally, have not seen

an anti-religious campaign here. What did occur is many posts a

couple of weeks back that were pro-Christianity and that offended

those who do not share that belief. And it was asked to stop by our

moderator. If you want to go into it more, feel free to email me off-

list.

There are many people here who are lacto-ovo and maybe even eat at

fast food restaurants. Please try to take people's posts lightly and

not as a condemnation. I don't think anyone here is calling anyone a

bad person (unless they eat me*t, ha, ha just kidding).

> So, " Laura " , why don't you come on back from Twin Peaks and give

this stinky li'l list another try. It sure has some darned GOOD

recipes on it MOST ALL THE TIME! Yeah. Just take the good and

ignore the bad.

One great way to avoid the " bad " posts is to not receive any

email/digests and instead come to the group's website:

That way you can scroll down the Messages list and find the posts

about recipes and not read anything that might be offensive to you.

Of course I'm hard to get offended, unless it's humor geared towards

18-30 year old males (i.e. Jackass the Movie, etc). :-)

Anway, love the recent recipes that have been posted. I'm really

curious about making Seitan. I have some fear around it, though, and

I think it's just trying to imagine what the end product is from the

ingredients it's made from. Of course, right now with this nasty

cold, nothing sounds good except junk food. Anyone else crave junk

food when they're sick?

cheers to all,

Denise

Me too!

Me either; also a lacto-ovo veg. I don't take on the

guilt for my dietary choice, and I don't believe any

of the vegans here have ever tried to heap any guilt

upon us. I am delighted with the way both vegans

and other vegetarians have managed to co-exist

on this list with tolerance and mutual respect for

our personal choices.

You are correct; there hasn't been any

anti-religious campaign here.

Right again!

:::raises hand::: I did today! *lol* I took my eldest

daughter to TACO BELL for lunch and ate a cheesy

bean and rice burrito!

Great suggestion, and I guess I share your thick

skin as far as how I take stuff I read online in groups.

One other thing I do when and if I find myself getting

a bit peeved, is to step back to analyse why I am annoyed

by something; lots of times just doing that can give you

an insight.

Me too! Gluten just sounds so much like glue! *lol*

I guess the next time I dine out at this nice asian

restaurant I am just going to have to try this one

gluten " meat " dish I saw and give it a shot.

I might even buy some seitan ~premade~ in the

healthfood store and do my own experimenting with

it before trying to make my own.

Yes! Salty food...not to sound gross, but it seems to

cut the snot. [i know~ EW!] I like spicey, salty foods.

Oh, and chocolate, lots of chocolate for loving comfort.

Stick a nice hunk on your spoon and hold it over

your cup of soothing herb tea to let it get all melty.

mmmmmmm

Hope you feel better real soon, and thank you so much

for weighing in on this with your POV. I typed up a

reply today, but you pretty much said everything

I did in mine, so it was nice to just reply to yours

with a few " Right on's " .

:::sends healing thoughts your way::::

Perhaps love is like a resting place

A shelter from the storm

It exists to give you comfort

It is there to keep you warm

And in those times of trouble

When you are most alone

The memory of love

Will bring you home.
