Hey everyone I'm new to the group. My name is Kyra and I have

recently became a Vegetarian and plan on eventually becoming a

vegan. Okay well I was wondering if any of you have vegetarian (or

vegan) recipes that don't require me going to a health food store

that is specifically for these types of food?

If so please post them here or even email them to be

(kyrabang)

Thanks it would mean a lot!

Hello Kyra and welcome to the group. There are such a variety of

recipes listed in the Files section of this group (you have to go to

the web page,

). I'm sure you will

find something that will work for you.

Now days even basic grocery stores carry vegetarian-style foods,

knowing that there are consumers out there. Even Safeway has

increased their stock. But I would say that the majority of the

recipes listed in the files section use regular ol' ingredients and

nothing that you'd have to go out of your way to buy.

Where do you live? Is is budget your worried about in regards to a

health food store, or just there isn't one where you live?

Hope you enjoy this list and feel free to share any recipes that you

have, too!

cheers,

Denise

hello Kyra, I got an introductory recipe just for you. gotta warn you

its kinda simple and not too exotic, but you can get everything at a

market and its vegan.

Curried Rice with Garbanzo Beans

oh gotta warn you I aint good with measurements its kind of a heres

the idea but ya gotta kind of figure it out but it aint that hard

can of garbanzo beans

uncle bens instant brown rice with whatever water you need to use for

whatever amount you gonna make

margarine(optional)

curry powder however much you wanna use

salt to taste

frozen peas and carrots or just peas depends what you want

fresh broccoli flowerets in little pieces

ok make whatever amount of rice you want to and when you add the rice

to the water add the curry powder and the margarine if you want it. I

like alot cause you aint just flavoring the rice but you want the

other things flavored. then nuke the frozen veggies so they are

pretty much thawed and throw them in after rice is somewhat

cooked.then throw in the garbanzo beans. then when there is just a

little time left throw in the fresh broccoli. when I do it I only

like it to get softened but I still want the green remaining cause I

dont really like cooked broccoli. if you feel the need for salt add

it at the end. I know this is kind of simple but it really does taste

good and fills you up. stay cool, Dave

Hey Dave thanks a lot, I saved this in my e-mail and plan on

printing it out later. If you happen to know anymore simple ones

(mainly with things I can get at a normal grocery store--i dont

have job right now and the health food store is expensive) then

post them here or feel free to email me at kyrabang

and again, THANKS!
