Plus, the animals that are being chased might just turn on them and give them

a taste of their own medicine, sparing US the trouble of having to strip them

down, etc...

Part of being a sentient being is self-awareness. Cats are self-aware, as

are rabbits, dogs, etc. Unless I'm mistaken, bugs do not exhibit any

characteristics of self-awareness.

I thought one of the points of vegetarianism was getting away from even the

texture of meat. Ugh, the mere thought makes me sick to my stomach.

What does this have to do with squishing bugs?

Well, that depends. For those people who like meat, but are doing

it for health reasons meat substitutes are perfect. For other

people they are perfect too! I for one avoided them for years

because I too didn't like the texture and it reminded me far too

much of meat. (I still don't like TVP.) Not to mention that I

didn't see the point of having to put fake meat in everything. I

thought there was plenty of other stuff to eat. Lately, I've

changed my tune and I do like some meat substitutes. I like those

smoked tempeh fakin' bacon strips (not toooo bacon like to me),

veggie burgers--as long as I know it's vegetables and not too meat-

like (I don't like Boca Burgers.) Sometimes I like the Yves veggie

ground round, but I can't eat too much of it. I also like the fake

pepperoni and the Tofurkey slices. I like some Tofurkey itself

too. One thing I really like fake meats for is for teaching meat

eaters that there is another alternative. I like to make them for

my meat-eating friends. I think they are an excellent way to

introduce them to vegetarianism while still making them feel

somewhat " at home " . My $.02.
