Guest guest
Here's One additional point I forgot to mention... Since " kosher laws " do not apply to eggs, " parve " doesn't guarantee vegan, only meat/dairy free. However, I find it easier to spot egg ingredients than dairy. As long as it doesn't say egg (obviously) or Albumin (which is protein that may or may not come from egg whites), Lutein (which is a coloring that may or may not come from egg yolks), then it should be egg-free. (As opposed to dairy which may appear as casein, (some) lactic acid, lactose, whey, cream, butter, sodium stearoyl lactylate etc.) Lactic acid, btw, is produced by bacteria that consume lactose. , Sant & Brown <santbrown@l...> wrote: > > if the label says " parve " or " pareve " then it should be > > dairy free. parve means folks who keep kosher can add either dairy > > or meat to it. > > Ahah! So I'll look for that on the label when searching for pickles and > other condiments containing 'lactic acid'. Nice tip.
