Guest guest
How many of you, living in Canada, have noted that there is now a ban on petfood from the USA coming into Canada because of the Washington State 'mad cow' crisis? It was reported on our news this morning. I telephone my petstore (in London, Ontario), which deals only in natural foods, no rendered material, no preservatives, blah blah blah, and they report the situation as " very serious indeed " . The authorities are not, of course, bothering to check labels (they couldn't do that, it seems) so that not even vegetarian/vegan food can get through. Since a *huge* amount of all pet food sold in Canada is manufactured in the USA, there is likely to be a problem as long as this ban stays on. Although I would not advise stockpiling food in any kind of situation, it might be well to check that you have enough for the forseeable duration of the ban for any companion animals which require a specialized diet - diabetic, low protein, or whatever, I dunno - in order to survive. At least, check with your local pet supply store, okay?
