Hello,

I decided to have some hot mulled cider

last night. Found and tried the following

recipe. I found the recipe at mixed-drink.com,

even though there isn't any alcohol in it.

Alternative additions found at PrimaRecipes.

It tasted great but is very sweet.

I added all the spices loose and just poured

into cups through a strainer.

Hot Mulled Cider

0.5 cup brown sugar

1 dash salt

2 quarts apple cider

1 tsp allspice, whole

1 tsp cloves, whole

1 stick cinnamon, 3-inch stick

1 dash nutmeg

8 slices orange, thin (optional)

-

1. Combine sugar, salt and cider.

2. Tie spices in cheese cloth and add to cider

3. Slowly bring to a boil

4. Cover and simmer 20 minutes

5. Remove spices

6. Serve hot with orange slice floaters and cinnamon stick.

Can also add clove-studded orange wedge on mug.

Alternative additions: 0.25 cup lemon juice,

and 1.5 inch piece dry ginger root

This sounds very good, Gary.

I also like your idea for just pouring the brew through

a strainer; one could use a Melita cone filter.

Month of January - smoky is the vale;

Weary the wine-bearer; strolling the minstrel;

Lean the cow; seldom the hum of the bee.
