Guest guest
What a great tidbit of information for me. My family is British, and we moved to the US when I was five. Hence I have always celebrated Christmas the English way. But we never had turkey, usually ham. My favorites were sausage rolls, mince tarts, trifle, Christmas pudding w/whipped cream and as I got older, the Christmas cake. For me the best memories of Christmas are of my mom making all these wonderful treats for us. When I became a vegetarian I thought I was going to miss out on all of that. But behold I found Gimme Lean. I still make those sausage rolls (little finger bite sizes), I buy English brand mincemeat (which, because it's imported has absolutely no suet or other beef flavoring, unlike the American brand), and same with the Christmas puddings. So here is how I make my soysage rolls 1 tube of Gimme Lean sausage flavor 1 recipe for 9 " pie crust Divide the dough into 4 equal parts. Keep the dough you're not working on in the fridge or at least in a cool spot. Roll out one of the pieces of dough into a rectangle. I believe I make mine about 10 " long. Cut the Gimme Lean into 4 equal parts. Using some flour, roll out one of the pieces the same length as your dough. Using your finger, add a little bit of water one long edge of dough, lay the soysage on the dough and bring the dry side up and over. Use a fork to press the seams together. Cut pieces in 1 to 1 1/2 inch sizes. Repeat for remaining dough and soysage. Bake until golden brown. I can't remember if it's 350 or 425; but I almost always cook everything at 350.
