Guest guest
You're right, they could easily have eaten in an Italian restaurant, but being right-wing conservative types, they are trained to think categorically, which is why they fell for Atkins originally -- and since Atkins warns you away from pasta, they categorically link pasta to Italian restaurants and categorically avoid the whole thing, even though, as you point out, they are hypocrites and cheaters when it comes to what they actually eat. They only wanted the outward appearance of conforming to the categorical, in short. Sad and sick, is what it is.
