Guest guest
apparently, diesel engines can run on vegetable oil-- if you happen to have a diesel automobile, mcdonald's will apparently pay you to take away their used oil, which you can then use to run your car. darryl hannah does this (i heard her talking about it in an interview). so, instead of giving them your money, take some from them!! melody http://www.melodysmusic.net

There's a little more to it than just putting the used fryer-stuff in your tank, though. It has to be " cracked " by way of a chemical process using alkali and methanol. There are quite a few people doing this now, and they report very good results. Apparently the toxic emissions are lower then with petroleum-based diesel, too. I believe that diesel engines will also run on fresh unmodified veg oil, provided the oil is heated before injecting it -although the engine cannot be started from cold this way. Do a google for " the veggie van " or " biodiesel " for more info. I also seem to remember someone calculating that that if the UK farming land allocated to meat production were used for growing veg- oil instead, it would actually provide us with enough diesel to run all our cars. Going on the Net today? Wy not visit http://www.tibetsupport.org.uk and support the cause of the Tibetan people.
