I don't for a moment think the cat delayed you in order to let you get the package a bit earlier than you would otherwise have done, but it is cool that it worked out that way. Your interpretation of the story -- that the cat had some purpose in delaying you -- makes a couple of common mistakes. One is to link the events. Two is to ascribe knowledge and purpose to the cat. Still, when looked at holistically, it was obviously in the pattern to happen that way.
