Guest guest
kick me off this group!!! What the heck is going on??? I join this " support " group because I am a new vegan and am reaching out fer help. I find it. (thank you) and then I disappear fer a day and the group erupts! I find I am told how to dress. How to dress? Who the heck says I can't wear what? Ya gonna disown a boy fer wearing a skirt? How bout a girl fer wearing no bra? What era are we in that I cannot be myself? I find I cannot have a drink! Hell, if I'm responsible, I can have a drink! How many people die in car accidents everyday? Anyone can get a license, anyone can have a child, anyone can work heavy machinery!!!! But it takes a responsible person to do any of those things right! Now you can really crucify me. I smoke! There! I said it. But, should you ban me from society for it? Or should you reach out a hand and try to help me better the world along with you. I'm sorry some of you do not find smoking an addiction. Unfortunately it is. I am currently quitting and damn proud of that fact. But do I expect you to understand, my new-found " support " group. Me guesses not. What about the heroin addict? Shall we leave him on the curb? Let the youth die? Hmmmm... maybe we could try to help him! How many of you were looked at funny fer becoming a vegan? I still am. Do I care what they think? No, because I am happy being one. I feel better. Healthier! Happier! More energetic and I know I heping to save innoncent animals, this planet and myself!!!!!! So why do I care what others think on that? Which leads to why do I care what they think about what I am wearing???? Present ourselves properly? You mean we should change and conform to society in the way we dress? Why is this? Please someone explain this to me? Why can't I be me? Now I must live a lie? How can I expect others to respect what I say if i cannot respect myself? As for smoking on the marches, I will agree with that only because of the unfairness to non-smokers and chance of possibly polluting the ground with butts. As a smoker (who reminds you she is quitting), I try always to be courteous to non-smokers. I will not force my nasty habit upon you. BUT PLEASE do not force your ideals on me. Yes, please, give me your opinions. Show me the good and bad points. open my eyes into what you believe, but allow me as a person to make my own judgements. AND DO NOT jusge me when you have no idea of who I am. I am sorry fer this, but I just read 30 good rant and rave emails in which people were stating they were right and evryone else was wrong. Must be nice to always be so right. Must be nice to close off others and just live in yer own ideals. Me, I personally like to hear all sides and explore every avenue. Me, I like to learn. No matter what the end reult may be. So, if ya want me to leave because I don't agree please say so. But if I stay, please affirm my belief that this is indeed a " support " group created where we can all come together to share and learn from one another. Not degrade and demean. Fer that to me makes us no better than the meat eaters who close their eyes and ears to our pleas. I have a big problem with some things some of you said and judgements made. But, you are definately entitled to yer own opinions. And as some of you have personal problems with the smoke, I can understand them. But why slaughter and entire society fer a handful of mistakes. Why not try to help that society become a better one? So ends my rant and my rave. I apologize fer any offense inflicted, but could not sit idly by and watch the " violent " behavior. Instead of help, I saw attack. This group brought me into utter disbelief and horror this morning! Maybe just me I don't know. But I thought when I became a vegan I was joining a group of people who wanted to help other species including our own. Today's reading scared the beejezes on me as to what we are really about. I wonder if we are one of those society's who want to simply sit by and judge others instead of helping them. Gee, like barbarians. nikki <packing up her soapbox just in case>

Guest guest
Nikki > kick me off this group!!! No - it is only one person who is saying we should all conform to their ideal. > > I find I am told how to dress. How to dress? Who the heck says I > can't wear what? Ya gonna disown a boy fer wearing a skirt? Not me - Dimmu Borgir, Nirvana etc. We don't have many arguments on this list, it is usually friendly and supportive, so I hope you will stay, and help it resume normality.
