Maybe you expressed yourself in a manner that the people concerned perceived as condemnatory, as in " I don't know how you can, filthy places, full of smoke. People shouldn't be allowed...... " etc. etc. I can see how that might lead to people considering you to be anti- social. Cathy
Guest guest
No you are wrong, I did not express it like that in fact I did on one or two occasions go to the pub, but it always made me so ill for several days, so most times I did not go and so ended up being considered unsociable. Well if one person who told me this a few years later is to be believed, that is the view they had of me. Maybe I should not take too much notice of what he said, I don't know. I am sure I had said that I didn't like smoke, but I was not at all as strident about it as I am now! Guest guest
I was hurt by these people, I was always really nice and friendly to them, and I thought we all got on fine, so it hurt when I found out about them bitching behind my back. I never bitched about them, I thought I liked them and they liked me fairly well, they were animal rights people and vegans, and I felt betrayed by them as the people who should have been my friends. If people who share important ethics cannot be nice to one of their own kind, what hope is there for anyone to get on with anyone else? They seemed to resent me for not going to the pub, which is just plain stupid! Lesley B. B. Guest guest
Hi Lesley > I only mean to ask people to conform on protests where we are in the public eye and are ambassadors for the cause. Here I do agree with you. When we act in a situation where we are representing others, we should firstly stick purely to the issues involved, and secondly present a unified face. However, I think that unified face should be what is usually considered to be responsible behaviour - not the extreme end of the highest ethical platform.
