My zine and my fussy taste

I don't know if this will interest anyone, but thought I'd mention it as it's the reason I became vegan in the first place (well, I'm ashamed to say I do still eat pizza as it's my fave food and I don't have time to make my own - although I only have one brand! I still reckon someone needs to make a vegan pizza for sale in Holland & Barrett).

In my spare time I produce an independent rock music publication called Black Velvet. The new issue which is out now includes my interview with Tyler of Midtown. Midtown are a band from NJ who are into animal rights. 3 of the guys are vegetarian and Tyler is vegan. I got sent their new album for review and noticed on the sleeve that they support PETA and the animal rights movement. I went to look at their website at midtownrocks.com and found more about how they're into animal rights. So I wanted to interview them. I've never had a proper animal rights/vegetarism interview in Black Velvet so I really wanted this to be the first. I'd been vegetarian for 13 years and into animal rights. I ended up interviewing Tyler as he was the vegan and he was so inspirational to talk to that I then decided I wanted to become vegan - and cut out all animal by-products (except pizza).

Anyway, I thought it might be of interest to someone. If anyone wants info on getting a copy of Black Velvet (I'm afraid you have to buy it as I do it in my spare time and it costs loads to print!), details are at www.blackvelvetmagazine.com. There are lots of other rock bands in it as it's an all round rock zine. I also ban any rock bands who talk about how they abuse animals such as Ted Nugent and James Hetfield who are known to like hunting, and The Vandals, who are into bullfighting. Most recently, Green Day have been banned since one of the members had fighting fish in a bowl on their tour bus and enjoyed watching them try and kill each other. Very uncool, Mr. Tre Cool.

Changing the subject, I'm a very fussy eater and am not too keen on the taste of 'Pure' (soya spread) and Cheezly. Anyone know of any nicer tasting soya margarine/butter or cheese that can be bought in a local town? On the plus side, I bought some soya milkshakes 'Oya' from Holland & Barrett and love them (which surprised me as last time I tasted soya milk I thought it was revolting)! I think they're making me put on weight as I'm drinking loads of them! Does anyone else have fussy taste like me?!
