I don't know whether or not this is true where you live, but around

these parts, hebe is a nasty word for a Jew (like the " n " word for an

African American).

 

(Reread that excerpt thinking of it from that perspective and you'll

I'm talking about the flowering shrub hebes...

 

And have indeed managed to kill a few, mainly through forgeting to

water them... But on the whole they tolerate neglect pretty well,

and would proabaly be a pretty good contender in a garden that is

visited by a rampant 4 year old neighbour such as fraggles....
