Evening all!

 

I'm brand spanking new here and thought I would say hi! New to

veganism as well. About 2 1/2 weeks now and still going strong.

 

I thought I would read some posts here to get a feel for the group

before I said hello and have seen some pretty interesting

conversations.

 

Anyhow, the last post I just read, Cynthia's struck a deep cord with

me. Because my choice to be vegan has affected people close to me as

well and I am being bombarded with a million questions. " Why? " always

being the first. Then, " but how will you survive " ? I have to giggle

at that one. Gee, uh dunno, guess i'll eat rocks. But I honestly

didn;t know there were so many different things out there I could eat

to stay healthy without sacrificing innocent lives.

 

So i'll answer these questions to you as I do to the family. Why?

Many reasons really. It's healthier, I feel better about myself, I am

saving myself, the innocents and the earth. (in a vague nutshell)

 

How will I survive? Same as before. Wake up and live. Just eat

differently.

 

I do not know all there is to know and I am still learning. New foods

and new ways to get my nutrition. Hopefully I can learn from you too.

 

Well, sorry bout the novel, but wanted to give ya a bit of background.

 

Oh yeah, and how I become a vegan. I asked a friend why they chose to

be a vegan. He told me his reasons and suggested some reading. So I

read. Then I counterread against veganism. Then I picked the logical

choice for me. Thing is, I wonder how I coulda been blind fer so

long. And blind it was. I read, I watch the news. I saw it all and

still turned my back or conveniently fergot it.

 

So to my friend who has helped me immensely these past weeks, a most

hearty and gracious thank you! You've helped me improve my life.

 

And Cynthia, congrats on finding something within yourself!
