LOL -- to me, this is no big deal. When I tell people in " my world "

that, they aren't impressed, but when I tell them we're descended

from Rashi, they are VERY impressed.

My brother had a teacher who used to quote a 16th Century Kabbalistic

Rabbi named Yeshia (Isaiah) Horowitz, who wrote a book called " shnei

luchot habrit " (two tablets of the covenent) and was called the

Shlah. My brother flipped when we found out we were descended from

the Shlah.... (BTW, this is the family that cousin Karl is descended

from too only he's descended from the Shlah's grandfather, I think...)

Cousin Karl doesn't cut it against that competition, IMHO ;-)

I have a friend who's descended from Thomas Jefferson's first cousin

(he's converting to Judaism). He joked with me about our respective

famous cousins ;-)
