The book is designed to sell.

That was an excellent response from Mike.....i.e. questioning the credibility of

the basic premise on which the whole book was based --- what is the health

problem she had that was caused by not eating meat... In Indian heartland where

90% of population is vegetarian for a lifetime and has been for hundreds of

years, people enjoy disease free(cancer, heart disease, diabetes, cancers) long

lives up to 80-90 years of age with all faculties intact.

I humbly urge everyone on this group to flood Mercury News with just a few

sentences and that will have an impact. Let us say a 100 reader responses go in.

This I am sure will urge Mercury News to write another article debunking the

writer's basic premise.

with Sharon Kilburg and I used it with her kind permission.

> Your article about Tara Weaver abandoning vegetarianism upon advice from a

doctor would lead readers to conclude that vegetarian diets are nutritionally

inadequate. However, the American Dietetic Association states that

appropriately planned vegetarian diets are healthful, nutritionally adequate,

and provide health benefits in the prevention and treatment of certain diseases.

What illness did Weaver have that could only be cured by meat? This is contrary

to medical science.

>

> Some kinds of meat are associated with increased risk of cancer,

cardiovascular diseases, and hypertension. Most meat in America is produced in

factory farms, where cruelty to animals is endemic. Weaver's book may earn her

a lot of money, but it's the animals that will pay the highest price.
