The documentary " Food, Inc. " will be shown on Friday, December 4 at 7:00 PM at:

http://www.worldcentric.org/conscious-living/films-fall-2009

Donations are requested at World Centric to cover cost of films and speakers.

The film will be followed by a speaker, discussion, and socializing. The

speaker will be Drew Harwell, local urban farmer and Garden Manager for Common

Ground (http://www.commongroundinpaloalto.org/).

In addition to " Food, Inc. " being shown, Matt Harnack will show his film " Fossil

Fuel Free Film " (20 minutes, 2009). Matt is a Stanford student and

eco-documentary film-maker, Grass Fed Films (http://grassfedfilms.org/).

Many meat-eaters will be present; the discussion time will be perfect for

discussion pointing to the environmental damage wrought by the meat industry

(yes, even by grass-fed animals!) and vegetarianism as part of the solution.

Seating capacity at World Centric is about 70 people; ARRIVE EARLY to ensure

that you will get a seat. Please feel free to bring food/drinks to share and a

cushion as there are a few metal chairs.

Description of " Food, Inc. " --

Drawing on Eric Schlosser's Fast Food Nation and Michael Pollan's The Omnivore's

Dilemma, director Robert Kenner's documentary (94 minutes, 2009) explores the

food industry's detrimental effects on our health and environment. Kenner

spotlights the men and women who are working to reform an industry rife with

monopolies, questionable interpretations of laws and subsidies, political ties

and rising rates of E. coli outbreaks.
