old windows laptop

Folks,

I have a personal (not owned by LLNL) old windows laptop I'd like to

get rid of. It still works, but I have a newer machine and this one

is just taking up space. I bought it new in early 2003. It's a

Toshiba Satellite S-301. It's rather heavy, because it came w/ full

desktop cpu (pentium 4, 32 bit), not a watered-down mobile cpu. The

battery is dead, so right now you have to plug it in. I assume a new

battery would work. You can also hook up a monitor keyboard mouse and

effectively use it as a desktop. I did this for a few years.

For normal uses (email, web, office) it was a pretty fast machine. It

even did some 1D Vlasov kinetic simulations.........

I am asking $100 or best offer, or a good cause to donate it to. Feel

free to forward this email.

Details:

CPU: 2 GHz 32-bit Pentium 4

RAM: 1 GB

monitor: 15 " (diagonal) 1024x768 svga

40 GB hard drive

DVD-RW drive

3.5 " floppy drive (!)

PC card slot (e.g. for wirelss card)

built-in ethernet port, modem

2 usb ports

parallel port

vga video out

audio out (headphones, etc)

built-in speakers

Software: fully up-to-date and patched Windows XP Pro (plus license);

otherwise just a few free things. In 2004 linux ran on it.

Any warranties are long expired. There are electronic manuals, maybe

I could find the printed ones.

I also have a wireless card, from ~2006, which I may be willing to sell.

Cheers,

Dave
