Guest guest
If you're interested in learning more about PETA and their views on women, people of color, transgender people, and many other oppressed groups, I suggest starting with the blog post: http://vegansagainstpeta.blogspot.com/2009/03/now-what.html For a deeper analysis of how these issues manifest in animal advocacy, I suggest reading the excellent archives of The Vegan Ideal: http://theveganideal.blogspot.com/ I used to support a different animal welfare corporation, despite their use of sexist stereotypes, justifying it to myself by thinking of the purported good they were doing for non-human animals. At some point, I realized that I wouldn't be part of a group in any other context that tolerated (much less promoted) sexism, so why was I doing so here?
