Hi my name is Rodger Takeuchi and I work for the Nichi Bei Times, a Japanese American newspaper located in San Francisco’s Japantown. We are holding our first ever Tofu Dessert Competition and Festival on Sunday, March 22, 2009 at the JCCCNC located in San Francisco’s Japantown. That means for all you would-be chefs or if the only TV station you watch is the Food Network, this is a great chance for all you budding chefs to try your hand at dessert making and submit a Tofu Dessert recipe for our Tofu Dessert Competition! Try to see what delicious dessert you can come up with that involves Tofu with the following restrictions: • At least 50% of the ingredients must be Tofu. • Tofu used in the recipes must be available at regular stores, and all ingredients and cooking utensils must be supplied by competitors. • Finalists must be able to attend the final and prepare enough 2 fluid ounce samples for 48 people. • A small stipend will be given by the Nichi Bei Times to cover food material costs. • Competitors are allowed to prepare ahead. Limited appliances are available at the final. • Contest is open to both professionals and amateurs. • The Nichi Bei Times reserves the right to publish the competitor’s name, recipe, city of residence, and occupation. The recipes can be easy or complicated, but the more fun and interesting the better! The winner will receive a cash prize of $100 and finalists will have their recipes published in the Nichi Bei Times, Northern California’s Oldest Japanese American Newspaper! Interested applicants please send emails containing: your recipe(s), name, address, phone number and occupation to: contact@nichibeitim es.com with the subject " Tofu Contest " in your title. Enter today! It will be lots of fun. For more information visit our website at: http://www.soyandto fufest.com/
