New Anti-Oppression Community at loveallbeings.org

<http://loveallbeings.org/>

Do you passionately oppose ALL the -isms, including ableism, ageism,

classism, heterosexism, racism, sexism and speciesism?

Have you wondered why the word 'vegan' has disappeared from animal activism?

Do you find killing others to be unacceptable, regardless of whether or

not they suffered?

Have you found animal welfare groups unwilling to confront their own

racism, sexism and other -isms?

Do you see relationships in terms of power and privilege?

Are you proud to be vegan?

You now have a place to call home.

Miranda Robbins and I are pleased to announce the creation of a new

community of vegan activists <http://loveallbeings.org/>, Living Opposed

to Violence and Exploitation (LOVE). Answering YES! to all the questions

above and not finding an organization supporting activists sharing these

views, we formed LOVE to fill that need. LOVE's mission is to promote

the understanding of speciesism as a form of oppression and veganism as

a positive, effective response to eliminating speciesism and achieving

the liberation of animals oppressed by speciesism.

For those who don't know us, Miranda is a longtime superstar activist

and the former Bay Area Outreach Coordinator for Vegan Outreach. I am

the former Western U.S. Outreach Coordinator for that same organization.

We're pleased to be joined by amazing activist Jenna Calabrese, former

Northeast U.S. Outreach Coordinator for Vegan Outreach, and Steven

Roggenbuck, an insightful, up and coming activist from Michigan.

Collectively, the four of us have engaged in animal activism in nearly

30 states. I think the experience level of the group is absolutely

phenomenal and I am proud to be part of a community with such kind,

dedicated and thoughtful people.

This week I've been reading /Feminist Theory: From Margin to Center/ by

bell hooks. In the preface, she writes: " Feminist willingness to change

direction when needed has been a major source of strength and vitality

in feminist struggle. That internal critique is essential to any

politics of transformation. " This vibrancy is so important to me. I

think LOVE is special because we don't think we (or anybody else) have

all the answers and are committed to exploring the issues together with

a willingness to question our current ideas. Because of that, I'm really

excited about the blog LOVE is publishing at

http://loveallbeings.org/vegan-blog/ I think we have some great,

thought-provoking ideas and I invite you to read the blog and join us in

the exploration of veganism and activism. Let's discuss all of our ideas

together and bring strength and vitality back to veganism.

Miranda and I invite you to visit our online community at

http://loveallbeings.org, explore the resources available there, and

consider joining our community and participating in this work. Let's

work together for the liberation of all beings.

Because a vegan world IS possible, if we dare to believe it.

Miranda Robbins and Victor Tsou
