Guest guest
I just spoke to Mike Welsh, Mr. Coto's Legislative Director (I hope I got his title correct.) He said Coto was going to carry the bill, SB 880, as a personal courtesy to Assembly Member Calderon who is in the Latino Caucus with Coto. However, after Coto's staff reviewed the bill, Coto has declined to carry it. So, according to Mr. Welsh, Coto will NOT be introducing SB880 on the Assembly Floor. When I said that I would hope that would mean that Coto won't be voting for it, if it is introduced, Mr. Welsh said, " I would hope so too " (or something to that effect). He said that staff had a meeting about it this morning (after getting numerous phone calls about it), but Coto was not there. Once the staff heard about the kangaroo protections that the bill would repeal and Mr. Welsh agreed with me how horrible it is the way they kill the kangaroos, they will be encouraging Coto not to vote for it... Maybe a little bit of hope for the kangaroos...Keep the calls coming in please...
