I am including the whole press release below: “Eating For Peace” Dr. Tuttle Lectures on The World Peace Diet On Saturday, July 7, at 7:00 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Palo Alto (505 E. Charleston Road) Dr. Will Tuttle will be presenting a free lecture on the main ideas in his groundbreaking new book, The World Peace Diet: Eating For Spiritual Health And Social Harmony (Lantern Books). The lecture is sponsored by UFETA, Unitarian-Universalists for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. In The World Peace Diet, Dr. Tuttle explores the deep connection between the denial of our natural compassion for animals and the broad range of problems we face as individuals and as a society. He shows how the violence surrounding the food we eat is a barrier to our cultural and spiritual evolution. His book is the first to put the mentality required by our food choices at the center of our problems and illuminate the connections between our food, our culture, and our dilemmas. “For many years, I expected to see a book come out that would make the connections between the mentality required by our routine mistreatment of animals for food and the problems and violence in our world,” says Tuttle. “It gradually dawned on me that if I wanted to read such a book, I would be the one who would have to write it.” The World Peace Diet is already having a profound impact on individual and corporate thinking. John Mackey, founder and C.E.O. of Whole Foods says, " I am grateful for this powerful and cogent book. It has stretched my thinking (and heart) about animals, compassion, and our society. " Library Journal calls The World Peace Diet “thought-provoking and recommended for most collections.” The book has also received rave reviews from award-winning authors such as John Robbins, Joanna Macy, Julia Butterfly Hill, Charles Patterson, Judy Carman, and many others. Will Tuttle has a Ph.D. in the philosophy of education from the University of California, Berkeley. A professional pianist, composer, and educator, he has for the last 15 years presented at progressive churches, human potential conferences, and intentional communities throughout the country. He trained in Korea as a Zen Buddhist monk and has worked extensively in Tai Chi, yoga, meditation, intuition development, and spiritual healing. He lives in Healdsburg, California.
