Guest guest
Hello fellow veggies... This hike is being co-listed with Stanford Outing Club. Directions to the carpool point at Stanford (listed in description below) can be found at: www.stanford.eduouting/drive.html I am willing to help facilitate carpools from other locations if someone volunteers to coordinate or organize other carpool sites. Having a site in San Francisco and one in the South Bay might be of interest. - Julio M. --\ ---------- Lake Chabot/ Anthony Chabot Regional Park- Dec. 9 (Saturday) --\ ---------- Destination: Lake Chabot/ Anthony Chabot Regional Park December 9, 2006 Total length of hike: 9 miles (approx.) Lake Chabot / Anthony Chabot Regional Park is a surprisingly secluded natural world even as it is a mere ridge away from East Bay Cities. This world includes an extensive forest with rustling leaves and the sounds of great horned owls and red-tailed hawks. Lake Chabot itself is pristine and serves as the emergency water supply for the East Bay. We will start at the Lake Chabot marina and circumnavigate the lake in a clockwise direction with a lovely hike up into the hills. Starting on West Shore Trail our hike will provide an up-close and leisurely hike along the western edge of the lake. We will then pass the dam and continue on Bass Cove trail. Next, the Columbine Trail with its twists and turns will take us up into the hilly train immediately to the north of Lake Chabot. Our route will then take us back down to the northern edge of the lake along Honker Bay trail. Finally, we will join the East Shore trail to return to our starting point.
