If you are interested in attending this fun-filled day of beautiful scenery and refreshing water relief from the heat, then send your PAYPAL (electronic) payment for $25.00 ASAP to beckerhead NO LATER THAN SUNDAY, AUGUST 7, 2005 -- Identical to last year's trip, we will be rafting (4-6 hours) on the mellow Stanislaus River—which consists primarily of gently flowing water interspersed with a couple of wading areas and a few easy-to-medium rapids (class 1-2). Needless-to-say, you most likely will get wet on this trip(!)—which should be quite refreshing-- considering temperatures are forecast to be in the upper 90s by mid- August! The cost of the rafting trip (including shuttle bus back to automobiles) is still only $25/person for the day! Due to the seasonal nature of the event, SBVS must limit this trip to 21 persons. SBVS will accept paid reservations on a first come/first serve basis. A confirmation e-mail or phone call will be sent/made to verify receipt of payment for the trip. ==================================================================== IMPORTANT: Please make sure to provide BOTH a phone number AND an e- mail address where you can be reached for when I send a follow-up e- mail regarding the specific details of the trip (such as where to meet, what to bring, carpooling information, etc.) a few days before the day of the trip. Also, indicate the names of all persons for whom you are making a reservation when you send your payment. Due to the seasonal nature of this event, it will not be possible to issue refunds unless the rafting company cancels the trip due to weather-related or safety concerns. Here is some information about the Stanislaus River provided by the rafting company: EXPERIENCE THE STANISLAUS RIVER " One of the clearest of California's Western Rivers, the Stanislaus originates high in the Sierra Nevada. As it flows west through the Gold Country, it passes through the rustic town of Knights Ferry…(which) is filled with many historical buildings and legends, and is the site of the longest covered bridge west of the Mississippi…It is just 30 minutes from Modesto, one hour from Stockton or Tracy, and less than 2 hours from San Jose and the San Francisco Bay Area. The Stanislaus is a beautiful, free flowing river at Knights Ferry. A paddle down the Stanislaus is a great way to step out of the routine of daily life and experience a simple pleasure. The " Stan " offers something for everyone. Whether you're a beginner or veteran river enthusiast, the Stanislaus will not disappoint. " RIVER FACTS · Minimum Age: 5 Years · Difficulty: Class II - Beginner · Experience Required: None · Season: May-October · Weather: Summer; Hot Spring & Fall; Mild If you have any questions, please feel free to send me an e-mail message at phibec95117. Located in downtown Palo Alto, Bay Leaf Cafe offers delicious soups, sandwiches and ice cream. The Bay Leaf Cafe is vegan owned and operated. ALL DISHES ARE VEGAN and organic when possible. On top of all that the Internet is even available through their wireless access point (pretty hip eh?). The Bay Leaf has been one of my favorite restaurants since it opened. Their Artichoke quesadilla is so cheesy it's hard to believe it's vegan! Regulars and newcomers are welcome, but it is a rather small restaurant and we have almost been reaching a critical mass at the last few dinners. RSVP to guarantee a spot!
