Guest guest
Hey everyone, I wanted to remind you of the event on Tuesday to get healthier options in the school lunch program, including plant-based meals. Getting healthier food in schools is such a hugely important issue, and expanding options among young people would be a fantastic step in the right direction of a healthier, more sustainable world. I hope many of you can be there on Tuesday to get involved in this project and can let anyone else who might be interested (especially parents, teachers and students, though that's not necessary) know about it. Thanks! Nora With news reports of childhood obesity capturing headlines around the country, the need to provide young people with healthy food in school cafeterias is a compelling social justice issue on many levels, affecting not only students' academic performance but also their long-term health. The time is ripe to improve this system. We are excited to announce the launch of a new Bay Area-based effort to address this issue by empowering students, parents, teachers, food service providers, and community members to advocate for a change! Join community members and CHOICE, Citizens for Healthy Options in Children's Education, to learn how to get involved in the effort to offer healthier food in the school lunch program. WHEN? Tuesday July 19th, 6-8pm WHERE? San Francisco Public Library-main branch; 100 Larkin St. (at Grove), right near Civic Center BART.
