Guest guest
Hi! Dolly West's Kitchen, a " joy of a play " , is premiering to the dress-rehearsal audience, which could include you, on Tuesday, June 14th, at 8:00 p.m. in the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts on Castro (main street) at Mercy streets. Totally free. Come at about 7:15 or earlier to ensure a seat, as it's first come, first given a ticket, until all tickets run out. We will be the " test audience " for the play, which opens to paying theatergoers the following night. This description of the play comes from theatreworks.org: World War II thunders across Europe, but it can't chill the warmth of Dolly West's kitchen on the cliffs of County Donegal. There her feisty family (matriarch played by acclaimed RSC actress Charlotte Cornwell) faces an invasion of its own: a pair of rowdy Yanks on leave from their base across the border. Despite Irish neutrality, the war changes everything, awakening the household to newfound romance and unforeseen revelation. A comic tale of loss and survival, this joy of a play is from the author of Someone Who'll Watch Over Me. Contains mature language. " Deeply affecting...a wonderful new play " - BBC London Please RSVP to me. I'd like us all to enjoy the play together. We can socialize beforehand (if you are interested in attending a dinner beforehand, note that in your RSVP) and/or afterwards. These TheatreWorks plays are, in the words of Bill and Ted usually " most excellent " . I may have to tutor (math) up til 7 so if you can host the dinner, please RSVP to that effect. The dinner should include vegetarian options. You are welcome to invite your friends, but remember that it's our duty to give something back to the theater sometime, for the gift of a free play. Sincerely, Michael Goldberger
