Hi again, everyone! This is the final reminder that I'm organizing a

three-part group adventure TOMORROW, March 5th, and hope that y'all will be able

to join me for one, two, or all three parts of it! Feel free to decide at the

last minute and to give me a call on my cell phone at (650) 823-6348.

In part one, we'll go to see the famous Broadway musical, " A Chorus

Line " , at the American Musical Theater in downtown San Jose on Saturday, March

5th, at 2 p.m. The American Musical Theater performs at the San Jose Center for

the Performing Arts, located at 255 Almaden Boulevard, at the corner of Almaden

and Park Avenue. Unfortunately, I didn't get enough RSVPs for us to qualify for

the group discount, so we'll all have to buy our tickets individually and hope

that we can sit close to each other. Please buy your tickets via the following

URL and e-mail me at shoshana afterwards to let me know that you've

bought them and where you'll be sitting:

In part two of our adventure, we'll meet for dinner at 6 p.m. at the

White Lotus vegetarian restaurant, located at White Lotus, 80 N. Market St, San

Jose, phone number, (408) 977-0540. As I'm sure y'all are aware, this

restaurant has recently been a topic of much discussion on the SBVS listserv, so

join us and see for yourself what all the controversy is about! ;-) Even if

you don't go to the performance, you may still join us for dinner at the

restaurant; please RSVP to me at shoshana by this Friday, March 4th,

so I can let the restaurant know how many of us will be there.

Our adventure will conclude with a trip down to Santa Cruz to see the

Nice Jewish Girls Gone Bad perform with the klezmer band, Golem, at 9 p.m. at

the Attic, located at 931 Pacific Ave., phone number (831) 460-1800. This is

sure to be a very funny and entertaining show, so don't miss out on it! Please

let me know if you'll be joining us for any of these three fun activities --I

hope y'all can make it!

Take care again,

Shoshana

Here's a description I found of the Nice Jewish Girls Gone Bad and

Golem:

Two of NYC favorites are coming to the West Coast to spread some East

Coast mishagas. The variety hit, Nice Jewish Girls Gone Bad, and Brooklyn’s

klezmer-rock phenomenon, Golem, are coming to town for the hippest Jewish

hoedown ever, sort of like a retro night in the Catskills.

Nice Jewish Girls Gone Bad is a refreshing mix of comedy, music,

spoken-word and show-stopping burlesque, told by the gals who learned to smoke

at Hebrew School, got drunk at their Bat Mitzvahs and would rather have more

schtuppa than the chupah. These badass chosen chicks boldly dare to deconstruct

years of tradition, expectations, and guilt in a fast-paced vaudeville

extravaganza, complete with kick lines, pasties and a rendition of L’chaim with

a fist in the mouth. This ain’t yo’ Mama’s Fiddler!

It ain’t your grandma’s either. Young, hip widely acclaimed New

York-based Klezmer/Rock band GOLEM (named after the legendary Jewish

Frankenstein of Prague) transforms the music of its Jewish grandparents, making

it modern, edgy, sexy and brash. GOLEM has infused the World Music scene with a

breath of fresh air from Eastern Europe. Their explosive onstage attitude gets

Klezmer to rock. Fronted by Annette Ezekiel - bandleader, accordionist and

singer - as well as madcap vocalist Aaron Diskin and violin virtuoso Alicia Jo

Rabins, the bands six members create GOLEMs powerfully vibrant sound.

Nice Jewish Girls Gone Bad features a stellar line-up of comedians,

musicians, spoken word artists and burlesque

performers who have been featured on Comedy Central, HBO, MTV and late night TV,

such as, comedian Ophira Eisenberg (Comedy Central), spoken word artist Vanessa

Hidary (HBO), singer/songwriter Michelle Citrin, the Shiksa dancers (San

Francisco’s Hot Pink Feathers) and hosted by the comedian/chanteuse Goddess

Perlman (MTV/TLC). This show has been

wowing sold-out crowds in NYC (Joe’s Pub, Fez, The Cutting Room), Philadelphia

(The Five Spot), Boston (the Paradise),DC (Warehouse Theater), Pittsburgh (Rex

Theater), Chicago (Bevery Arts Center), Madison (UW Memorial Union), Detroit

(1515 Broadway), Montreal (Theatre National), Burlington (UVm Student Union),

Provincetown (The Vixen), the Berkshires (The Berkshire Music Hall), the

Hamptons (Stephen Talkhouse) and of course the Catskills (Colony Cafe).

Golem has been working it too. They just released their new CD, Homesick

Songs, a Jewish party in a box. Including updated versions of Yiddish chestnuts

and lesser-known tunes, all love songs to the towns of Eastern Europe, Homesick

Songs will wake the golem itself. From Lincoln Centers Damrosch Park to the rock

clubs of the Lower East Side, Golem seduces audiences of Klezmer fans and

rockers alike.

This is a very special and unique show, even if you are not Jewish,

you'll have a great time watching those crazy yids work

it. Its almost like being be a M.O.T* for the night without the guilt, nagging

mother and 10 hour seders. Get yo’ matzo ball on

and rock your roots with Golem and Nice Jewish Girls Gone Bad?
