Guest guest
Greetings SouthBayVeggies. As some of you know, I am planning to participate in the AIDS Marathon. I have great news! I have been recovering from a serious knee injury. I was unable to train for two months, and thought that perhaps I would not be able to complete the program. However, I saw a specialist who gave me the " okay " to start training again. And I have, with a vengeance. I have been working very hard to catch up. It has not been easy. I am not a runner by nature, and this is my first marathon. So, it has proven to be quite a challenge! But, not nearly as difficult as the challenge those living with HIV/AIDS face every day. So along with my training runs, I am still working hard to raise money for the San Francisco AIDS Foundation. Not only are they a leading provider of HIV services, they also conduct a huge needle exchange programs in the Bay Area. This is one of the most important ways to prevent HIV infection. A portion of the funds will also support HIV treatment access in the developing world. Many people have asked just how one does train for a marathon. Essentially, I wake up at the crack of dawn, eat strange carbo-loaded fuel replacement food products, drink gallons of water, ice my knees, chafe in places I did not know existed, and run for hours at a time every week. I have committed to raising a minimum of $3000 for the cause, which was due August 30th. Because everyone's generous support, I am halfway there! Yet, I am responsible for the remainder in order to participate in the marathon (yes, its true). I have been granted an extension to give me a little extra time to raise the difference, and I could really use your help. If you haven't yet had the opportunity to visit my AIDS Marathon Donation Page, you can use the link below. Your donation will make a huge difference in the lives of people living with HIV/AIDS. If you would rather send a check, I will happily supply you with my address and I will forward the check for you. Because of my deadline, please try to send your donation by October 31st. Thank you again for your support, and I'll be thinking of you on December 12th when I cross that finish line! With many thanks, Stacy Rosen http://www.aidsmarathon.com/participant.asp?runner=SF- 4443 & EventCode=HN04
