Guest guest
Once again, I am compelled to remind folks that the SBVS listserve is NOT a discussion board. Please restrict your postings to topics and/or events that directly pertain to vegetarianism, animal protection matters, or the specific activities of the South Bay Vegetarian Society. In this specific case, the initial posting regarding consumption of fish and its commensurate levels of bioaccumulated mercury was quite pertinent as it relates to diet. In contrast, the issue raised regarding the prospective risk associated with mercury fillings is a more general matter relating to healthcare as a whole--and it is not specific to vegetarianism or vegetarian diets. Finally, as a science educator, it is important for me to point-out that " anecdotal experiences " are never a substitute for legitimate scientific research--and it is important that those of us in the vegetarian community who are trying to legitimize vegetarian diets stay solidly in the realm of RESEARCH based studies...and NOT anecdotal experiences. In summary, failure to comply with the listserve guidelines constitutes abuse of the listserve, and may result in suspension of posting privileges by the abusing party. If you ever have questions about the appropriateness of a prospective posting, I encourage you to first contact me or any of the other SBVS listserve moderators for feedback prior to posting of your message to the whole listserve. Thank you for your cooperation on this matter. Phil Becker, SBVS Co-Founder & Listserve Co-Moderator
