Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I've seen recent postings regarding veg reports in the news, and I thought I'd bring up something great I just heard at lunch today... Paul Harvey (aired on KGO radio) did a story on a young girl who bonded emotionally with a pig that was initially intended for auction/slaughter. The girl made sure the pig ("Miss Piggy") would not make ideal weight for auction so she could save her from slaughter. After some cruel taunting and abuse of the pig by the girl's classmates, her mother ultimately purchased Miss Piggy from the school and had her sent to sanctuary in Florida. At the end of this piece Paul Harvey announces that he (or the show ) would send a copy of Peaceable Kingdom to any school that requested. (he gave a fax number that I didn't write down as I was in my car). He said the girl mentioned the only thing she knew about pigs before she met this one, was that they were boiled before or during slaughter so their skin would come off easily. This video, he says, would inform students of some of the cruel truths behind animal factory farming. It really made my day to hear this on KGO. Emily Friends. Fun. Guest guest
You can listen to this Paul Harvey program online using Windows Media Player. Go to http://www.paulharvey.com/ , find the line that begins with " wednesday " , then click on the word " noon " . The segment involving the girl and the pig begins at 5:53 (five minutes and 53 seconds) into the program. If you are going to listen to it, better do so this week because it looks like that link will be replaced next week. Paul Harvey's offer is to give a copy of the video documentary Peaceable Kingdom to any school that requests it. The fax number that he gives is 312-899-4088.
