Guest guest
OK - I finally have it together for the hike on Sunday. Sunday May 30th. Time: meet at 10:00am (plan on a few hours of hiking) Location: Ed R. Levin County Park, 3100 Calaveras Road, Milpitas CA. 95035. This park is in the foothills just east of Milpitas. Basic directions are to drive through Milpitas on Calaveras Road until you get to Piedmont Road. Continue on Calaveras Road up the hill. Follow the signs to Ed R. Levin park. Take the first left (Old Calaveras/Downing road). Enter the park. (Pay fee) Follow Downing road around just past Sandy Wool lake. Park. There is a $4.00 vehicle fee so carpool if you can. This hike is not strenuous but there is some vertical ascent. It may be hot though so bring sun protection and fluids to drink. The particular trail I am thinking about is dog friendly so if you would like to bring your dog(s) please do. If no one brings dogs then there are several trails we can choose from. This trail is also part of the Bay Area Rim trail so we will be able to see the bay at one point (if it is clear) so bring your cameras. The plan is to hike for a while, picnic when we get hungry and then hike back down. Plan on a few hours. See you there.
