DAVE Joanna [joanna]Saturday, October 11, 2003 11:05 AM' '[sfBAVeg] Vegan Snow Lodge Trip 2nd/3rd January 2004Hello fellow vegan campers!You may already have seen our earlier post about the "vegan snow lodge trip"to Hutchinson Hut in the Sierras that Mike and I are organizing. I amwriting again because we now have a firm date for this outing which is theweekend of Friday and Saturday, January 2nd and 3rd 2004. We have reservedHutchinson Hut for those 2 nights and now we just need to fill it withfellow vegans!Here is the link to Hutchinson Huthttp://www.sierraclub.org/outings/lodges/huts/hutchinson.asp As you willsee, it is a beautiful, rustic lodge nestling in the spectacularly scenicSierras near Donner Pass Road/Donner Summit off Highway 80. It holds amaximum of 20 people and has a large living room, a well-equipped kitchen,two loft sleeping areas, two wood stoves, a shower, two toilets and asauna!! Mike and I did a "work weekend" with the Sierra Club at theirneighbouring Clair Tappan Lodge last year, which involved hauling greatquanities of firewood into the Hutchinson Hut woodshed! Ever since then, wehave wanted to go back there with a great group of people to enjoy the snowand use some of that firewood!! So, if the idea of kicking off the New Yearwith a weekend of frolicking in the snow and chowing down on some greatvegan vittals sounds appealing, then please email us for further details!The cost of the trip is $14 per person per night (+ 11% tax) + food costs.All meals will be communal vegan meals and the menu will be decided upon byus all in advance of the trip. Food will be purchased by a couple ofdesignated shoppers and the receipts will be tallied up and split betweenus. Based on previous camping trips, we estimate that food will work out atapproximately $30 a head for the whole weekend.Many of you who have already been on the various vegan camping tripsorganized by this group over the past couple of years will know that theseoutings are a really special experience and a lot of fun! It is a great wayto meet new vegan/vegetarian friends, not to mention the delicious veganfood that is served!
