Hi, several people had similar inquiries about the Elkhorn Slough trip

tomorrow, so here are the common answers:

We will be on the water 4 hours, and we will be having an early (around

3-4pm) dinner at Dharma's, so probably the best option for lunch, is to

bring something to eat in the car, or on the water around noon. But do

leave lots of empty room in your stomach for Dharma's.

I will be departing 9am sharp, because we want to get synchronized with the

tides. This is not your typical South Bay veggie event, where the start

time is somewhat loose and you can come any time. If you have trouble

arriving places on time, just pretend the start time is 8:30am and not 9am

and you should be fine.

Check the weather forecast for the Bay Area, and then assume the seat of

your pants will get wet and it will be very windy, and dress accordingly.

But do have sunscreen, plenty of water, good sunglasses and sunhat and

short-sleeved shirt. I advise against cotton clothing for this, for it does

not mix well with water. I don't think it is necessary to bring wet-suits

of any sort, although some people do. No experience necessary, this is not

a white-water, challenging-type trip, this is mostly for wildlife viewing.

It is a good idea to pack your items in a water-proof or water-resistant at

least, sack. Do not bring expensive cameras or anything that can't get wet.

Thank you, that is about it. For complete details, see my message earlier

October 2.
