Guest guest
Mon, 22 Sep 2003 20:05:07 -0700 dmytels " Fed up! -- Genetic Engineering, Industrial Agriculture and Sustainable Alternatives " is the next film in the Foundation for Global Community's fall video series, Tuesday night, Sept. 23, 7:30 pm. 70% of the food eaten in the US contains genetically engineered ingredients. (Mostly corn and soy products.) These foods are unlabeled and not proven to be safe. The biotechnology industry argues that lack of proven danger means this food is safe. " Fed Up! " looks at how our food system has been driven out of control by the quest for profits -- to the detriment of consumers and small farmers everywhere. Produced in 2002, the film runs 57 minutes and will be followed by a discussion. Director/producer Angelo Sacerdote has said he will try to be here for the discussion. The film will be shown at the Foundation for Global Community, 222 High Street, downtown Palo Alto. Tickets are $3 to $5, depending on ability to pay. Popcorn -- organic and GE free! -- will be served! Questions ? Call Aseem Das, (650) 856-2019 or at <aseem>.
