Guest guest
Hi y'all, I think it's time to start up the bookclub again. If you're interested in reading and discussing the following book, send me an email. The book this time out is called " Vegetarianism: Movement or Moment " and is written by Dr. Donna Maurer. Maurer is a sociologist/longtime vegetarian who plunges into the nature of vegetarians and vegetarianism. Howard Lyman's appraisal: " Donna Maurer's 'Vegetarianism: Movement or Moment' is the best resource on vegetarianism I have ever read. The book is not only filled with information, it is as readable as a best-selling novel. I was drawn into the book from start to finish and I loved reading every page. " I figure what's good for Howard might be good for the rest of us. More acclaim comes from Waarren Belasco: " Donna Maurer offers a great service by taking us inside the modern vegetarian movement. She does a very fine job of explaining why people do and do not stop eating meat. (It) will serve as the basic guide to American vegetarianism for many years to come. " Published in 2002, the 150 page book (paperback) sells for 19.95 at Amazon, although the Santa Clara county library has two more copies one could snap up. Perhaps we could meet in a month or so at Basy Leaf Cafe and discuss it. All those interested, write me and we'll work out the details. Thanks, Mike
