Guest guest
Yes indeed... We'd like to get 50 or more showing up between 6 and 8 pm. I know the group travels quite a bit and also draws many folks from SF and the East Bay. So I strongly encourage anyone who works nearby or is willing to travel [bART would be good, no parking required] to join us. Details follow.... howarddy2 [howarddy2] Thursday, September 25, 2003 8:06 PM howard Cc: ar-sr Help to get a Berkeley Restaurant put on a regular Vegan Dinner Buffet -- 10/7, 6-8 pm We are trying to get a monthly [or weekly] Vegan Dinner Buffet going at a Berkeley Indian Restaurant. Pls join us on Oct 7th -- as part of the week of World Vegetarian Day activities. The owner is very receptive and is going to do an all Vegan Dishes instead of a mix of Dairy and Vegan items IF we can guarantee over 30 people. This will include Chole Sag [spinach and garbanzos], peas and potatoes, and two other vegan dishes [i'm trying to get something like Bhindi -- the Indian preparation of okra], rice, and a vegan roti bread. A vegan dessert is also being planned. There will also be a chickpea salad and hummus spread. Pls tell your friends and RSVP early. If we are successful, we will have this as a monthly or weekly resource for all Vegetarians and Vegans in the East Bay. Time: 6 pm -- 8 pm Oct 7th, a Tuesday Place: Curry 'n' Hurry RSVP -- howarddy2 Pls rsvp by 9 pm, Monday, Oct. 6th Address: 2011 Shattuck Ave. At the south-east corner of Shattack and University Ave, Berekely and about 3 blocks from the Berkeley BART station. Many AC Transit Buses pass by. Price: Dinner Buffet has been $5.99 recently, a great bargin. Extra: Let me know if you are willing to pay a $1 for 1-2 8 oz. cups of Vegan Soy Chai. I'll have to provide the Soy Milk, but we can have this prepared in advance only for the RSVPers. Note: Food spicing.... in the last few months the degree of spicing has been reduced in response to customer request. If you have been there before, you'll find the food much milder. They also usually have a hummus/garbanzo spread that is plain and can added as a sauce of sorts to make the food almost 'unspicy' if that's what you want. Students from the UC animal rights group will be meeting later on this same Tuesday and they will come around 6 pm to help get the numbers up [and maybe to get it as a regular monthly or weekly thing for themselves]. Come and meet the next generation of Veg*ns!
