Hot, hot, hot -- Planning Meeting -- Sunday -- August 31

Dear All,

Hello. Dave Pearl -- your group co-chairman here. Sunday, August 31 will be having our quarterly planning meeting. It is imperative that everyone attends this important event. We'll be planning events for the next three months ending November 30. If you want to see an event happen you need to attend this important event.

We have 250 members on our listserv yet only a few actively run the group -- and only about 30 to 40 ever make it to any of our events. What's keeping you from showing up -- smiles? Too busy ? Too many other groups in the area you've got things going with ? Not seeing the kind of events you'd like to see ? If so let us know and we can help you host the kind of events you'd like to see – smiles. I

This will not be your typical dreary planning meeting -- smiles. We'll be meeting at Rancho San Antonio at the picnic benches. Our last planning meeting we were fortunate enough to see a bobcat. Who knows what furry creatures will show up this time. We'll be following the planning meeting with a moderate hike at Rancho San Antonio, followed by an optional dinner at Hobbee's Cupertino

What kind of events would you like to see? More parties? Some overnight trips? Breakfast, lunch, or dinner at someone's house or your own house? A cooking demonstration? Speakers, hikes, dancing, concerts, more education events, more outreach, more animal activism, etc. etc.? Do you need more information on what it takes to become a vegetarian or a vegan? Have a favorite restaurant you’d like to have dinner at ? Would you like to host a potluck or games

night? Would you like to host a pool party or hot tub -- either at your house or at a place like Kiva in Santa Cruz ? How about a beach party? Maybe a day trip to San Francisco, Santa Cruz, Farm Sanctuary ? Perhaps you'd like to see an event outside of Santa Clara County -- go for it! Have an activism oriented event you like to do -- go for it! How about a book club or a debate club? Would you like to attend some animal rights or vegan conferences ? Keep your eyes posted -- some of us will be going to Los Angeles for Vegsource September 18-21.

Remember, we always host a dinner out at a local restaurant on the first Saturday of each month and a potluck at a member's home in the third Saturday of each month. If you’d like to host either of these events for the next three months let us know.

If you do decide to host an event just post it to the listserv approximately 7, 4, 2 before your event for optimum attendance. Also remember to send event details to our: “webmistress” at http://www.southbayveg.org/ or your event will not make it onto the web calendar.

If the event re-occurs on a weekly basis just post the event once a week to the listserv.
